Ik mag wel stellen dat Sherlock Holmes the official movie game alle verwachting van een movie game overstijgt. We zijn gewend datmovie games nog al gebreken hebben in diepgang en gameplay maar Sherlock Holmes heeft deze verwachting van movie-games helemaal overtroffen. De versie die we speelde was de symbian versie. Ik was verrast door de gameplay en elementen van de game. De film Sherlock Holmes is sinds 7 januari te zien in de bioscopen in Nederland en de verwachtingen zijn dat Guy Ritchie een echt meesterwerk ervan heeft gemaakt. Gameloft heeft daarentegen de mobiele game van Sherlock Holmes op de markt gebracht.
Allereerst is het natuurlijk fantastisch dat je de avonturen van legendarische personages als Sherlock Holmes en Watson naast boeken, films nu ook op je mobiel kunt ervaren. De verwachtingen van het oplossen van raadsels en knokpartijen wordt helemaal waar gemaakt door Gameloft in Sherlock Holmes the official movie game.
De game is een typische adventure game met kleine puzzels. Zo moet je bijvoorbeeld met een vergrootglas kasten doorzoeken om een sleutel te vinden. De game is opgedeeld in hoofdstukken de hoofdstukken worden geleid door dialogen tussen Sherlock en Watson of andere personages. Opmerkelijk is de diversiteit van de verschillende hoofdstukken. Zo spelen sommige hoofdstukken zich af in cafe’s en andere in gevangenissen in Engeland; terwijl je tussendoor paard en wagen bent aan het besturen om je weg te maken tussen bandieten en brandende opstakels.
Al met al probeer je door middel van vechtpartijen en kleine puzzels tot het einde van ieder hoofdstuk te komen. Behalve dat de fight-moves van Sherlock vrij goed zijn uitgewerkt worden knokpartijen afgewisseld door het boeien van bandieten. Je kunt je tegenstander via een mini-game boeien door tijdig op “5″ te drukken en tijdig op “4″ en “6″. Dit maakt de vechtpartijen, die soms eentonig worden, meer dynamisch.
Leuk uitgewerkt is dat je tijdens hoofdstukken soms wisselt van personage; zo speel je afwisselend met Sherlock en Watson. De personage zijn ook anders uitgewerkt; zo gebruik Sherlock voornamelijk zijn vuisten bij vechtpartijen en Watson heeft de beschikking over een pistool. Deze afwisseling in speelbare character geeft meer diepgang in de gameplay zodat op een andere manier je vijanden kunt verslaan.
De besturing van game is makkelijk en goed uitgewerkt, de 10 hoofdstukken die op zichzelf van vrij korte duur zijn maakt de game aan de korte kant. Maar zowel de grapihcs, de dynamiek van de personage en de goede samenhang tussen knokpartijen, mini-games en kleine puzzels maakt Sherlock Holmes de official movie game een zeer vermakelijke game en mag zich plaasten in de categorie betere games voor het mobiele platform Java. Kortom een aanrader!
