Tetris: ruim 100 miljoen keer gedownload.
EA heeft vandaag tijdens een persconferentie in Montreal bekendgemaakt dat er sinds 2005 meer dan 100 miljoen betaalde downloads van Tetris op mobiel hebben plaatsgevonden . Met deze grote prestatie is Tetris de grootste game ooit uitgebracht voor mobiel. Sinds 2006 is EA de exclusieve uitgever van de mobiele variant van de Tetris games. Tetris was als eerste uitgeven op de Gameboy van Nintendo in 1989 dit was destijd al een groot succes. Tetris gaat terug naar 1984 en is ontwikkeld door de Russische wiskundige Alexey Pajitnov. EA heeft dit succes door kunnen trekken naar bijna alle mobiele platformen. De eerste mobiele versie van Tetris was beschikbaar in 2001.
In juni 2009 vierde Tetris haar 25ste verjaardag. Dit verjaardagfeest werd met duizenden gamefans en journalisten gehouden op de jaarlijkse gaming conferentie E3 in Los Angeles. Verder is leuk om te vermelden dat volgens een onderzoek van BMC Research Notes bleek dat het regelmatig spelen van Tetris de menselijke hersenen meer efficiënter maakt en dat de hersenendelen gericht op kritisch denkvermogen en bewegingscoördinatie positief beïnvloed worden.
