Review Tetris Revolution
De laatste release van EA in de Tetris serie is Tetris Revolution. Ik ga in deze review geen tijd besteden om uit te leggen wat Tetris is. EA heeft onlangs nog bekend gemaakt dat Tetris meer dan 100 miljoen keer is gedownload. De kans dat je al een keer in aanraking bent geweest met deze zeer populaire game is dus groot.Om maar gelijk met de conclusie te beginnen: Tetris Revolution is de beste Tetris game die ik ooit heb gespeeld. Niet omdat Tetris Revolution zo revolutionair is maar omdat deze editie je toegang geeft tot een groot scala van eerder uitgegeven Tetris varianten (zoals varianten die aanwezig zijn in Tetris Pop). De naam revolution heeft volgens mij eerder te maken met het feit dat Tetris Revolution is opgezet in een ruimte-sfeer dan dat EA wilde dat we de game als revolutionair anders zouden beschouwen. Ook in deze game zijn de Tetris blokken hetzelfde als in voorgaande edities en is het speelveld ook onveranderd gebleven. Ik denk een goede zaak omdat juist dit de kracht is van Tetris. Wellicht wel een idee om eens te proberen een editie uit te brengen die wel echt revolutionair is met een breder speelveld en totaal andere vormen van Tetris-blokken. Ik laat dit verder aan EA over

Tetris Revolution editie is erg divers, behalve de originele gameplay zijn er 11 extra spelmodes toegevoegd. Ik zal er enkele toelichten. In één mode is er een lopende band die beneden in je scherm van links naar rechts gaat, je basis waar je de blokken opstapelt verandert dus de hele tijd. In deze mode is het dus moeilijker om het stapelen te plannen. In een andere mode is er een laserstraal die langzaam naar beneden komt, als de laser je blokken bereikt ben je game-over. In deze mode moet je dus sneller dan in originele gameplay de rijen proberen te verwijderen.
Ik ben blij dat EA bij de basis gameplay van Tetris is gebleven en op de deze gameplay wat leuke elementen heeft toegevoegd. Ondanks dat Tetris Revolution niet heel revolutionair is, blijft de game genoeg uitdaging bieden door de vele aanwezige varianten. Het spel is met 12 varianten met verschillende challenges een relatief grote game met uren speelplezier.
